On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, amid the awe-inspiring total lunar eclipse visible across Japan, “TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE 2026” will offer a heartfelt, one-night-only experiential event at Fusaki Beach. As the sun sets over the East China Sea, stars begin to twinkle overhead, and the moon gradually slips into total eclipse. Gentle Music and the soothing presence of nature come together to create a peaceful, immersive experience. The ever-changing night sky provides a beautiful backdrop for a calming sensory journey, guided by sound, silence, and natural rhythms.
The event features the internationally celebrated ambient composer Chihei Hatakeyama and Ishigaki Island–based Peruvian-Japanese artist JUST YOU & THE MOON. Their Music, rooted in different places and perspectives, softly intertwines beneath the moon and beside the sea, offering a moment of reflection and connection for all who attend.
We invite you to spend the night of the total lunar eclipse at Fusaki Beach. A stay at Fusaki Beach Resort Hotel & Villas, surrounded by the vast natural beauty, will deepen and complete this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We genuinely look forward to sharing a memorable experience with you at Fusaki Beach.
See you this spring during the spectacular total lunar eclipse!

The total lunar eclipse on March 3, 2026, as observed from Ishigaki Island, offers a rare opportunity for quiet reflection and profound wonder. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the full moon passes completely into Earth’s shadow, blocking direct sunlight. During totality, the moon takes on a dark red hue as sunlight refracted through Earth’s atmosphere is filtered—shorter blue wavelengths are scattered, allowing only red tones to softly illuminate the lunar surface. The precise color varies with each eclipse, depending on atmospheric conditions at the time.
On March 3, 2026, the eclipse will occur within an optimal viewing window in Japan. On Ishigaki Island, the moon will rise at 6:40 PM, with the partial eclipse beginning shortly thereafter. Totality will last from 8:04 PM to 9:03 PM, peaking at 8:34 PM.
As part of Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park—Japan’s first International Dark Sky Park—the island benefits from minimal light pollution and exceptional night-sky conditions. During totality, observers can quietly witness a “red moon” suspended among countless stars.
The perfectly curved edge of Earth’s shadow, the sudden appearance of stars as the moonlight fades, and the gradual, minute-by-minute transformation of the sky together create a celestial performance—one that can be deeply enhanced when experienced alongside Music.

A Peruvian-Japanese artist based on Ishigaki Island delicately weaves together the sounds of the Yaeyama islands and bustling urban environments. Their Music gently explores themes of solitude and nostalgia, creating a subtle, heartfelt resonance between the landscape and inner emotion. In 2025, they released their debut EP, Inner Voice, featuring Chihei Hatakeyama on modular synthesizer and electric guitar, and on mixing and mastering. Through tender field recordings from Iriomote Island’s rainforest, ocean waves, and cities like Tokyo, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai, combined with piano, guitar, synths, and voice, their work thoughtfully explores the dialogue between the island’s beauty and the inner voices of those living between cultures.
